Dustpan and Broom
Ideation: The project began with researching three places where habits can be improved.
1. Exercise, posture at your desk.
- Not a lot of movement or strength training involved in sitting at a desk.
- Pros and cons of both sitting and standing desks
- It’s healthy to have some amount of movement frequently
- below the desk, something to keep your feet/legs moving.
- Maybe this solution could also be applied in schools.
2. Quit smoking, or turn it into a healthy habit.
- Fresh air
- Talking to people
- Taking a short break
- Reduces appetite
- There’s nothing bad about smoking, except for the cigarettes.
3. Household cleaning for families, help and encourage kids to clean their room.
- Children at home, in their rooms but also the rest of the house. They like to play with toys. How can these toys develop diligent cleaning habits?
- Accessibility is important, either keep products open and available, or kept in a special place.
- Something children enjoy interacting with regularly.
- Maybe collecting household dirt can represent some advancement, maybe some reward?
How can we encourage children to develop discipline?
This project is aimed at encouraging children to develop habits of cleanliness and discipline. Children sometimes struggle to participate in household chores due to the size and difficulty of using various tools. The handle is designed to be held in multiple ways, to fit a range of hand sizes for both children and their parents. This way, children won't struggle to participate in household chores.
